In this week long collaborative workshop anchored in group ritual, engaging body, attention, and imagination-centering practices, and passionate and uncanny encounters with objects, landscape, and costume, we will “dialogue” with ourselves, one another, and everything to ask: how and why might we become more tender, more monstrous, more clairvoyant, more fluid; recognizing/uncovering our already multiple, hybrid, contradictory, messy, monstrous selves, groupings, world in the process.

Classic Thursday-Sunday Contact/Collective Improvisation Jam at The Field Center! Classes, labs, and open jams facilitated by our very own staff; Nuria Bowart, Anya Smolnikova, Lilianna Kane, Jared Williams, and Julianne Cariño!
Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided. Indoor sleeping options, and camping options. Dancing, sunbathing, swimming, eating food fresh from our garden, sauna, rigor and relaxation...

Jogo de Cinturas is an annual 4-day residential skillshare for capoeiristas here in Vermont. Each fall we gather to exchange music, movement and ideas and to build ourunderstanding of the complexity of what capoeira is today.

Highlighting the work of women teachers in capoeira, this event is open to all genders, ages, levels, groups and lineages. Room and Board provided, sliding scale pricing and scholarships available.

The Field Center is hosting the bi-annual SHAKE Workshop! This somatic durational exploration is created and facilitated by Anya Smolnikova & Rose Cole-Cohen. Through multiple daily Group Shakes, guided movement, and supported rest, we will collectively shake up and nurture our sweet nervous systems. Each day will be structured around 2 one-hour long shakes, with a final two-hour Big Shake on Sunday. Guided movement, writing, and drawing sessions will be offered to process what arises in our bodies.

Our monthly Contact Improvisation jam!

2nd Wednesday of the month at 6pm. Classes with rolling teachers into open jamming.

Mark would lead his approach in the mornings (more systematic, mechanical, and accumulative) while Lily would lead the group in the afternoons through more improvisational, somatic inquiries, followed by a daily Contemplative Dance Practice (a practice combining mediation and improvisation developed by Barbara Dilley). The combination of the two approaches provides a comprehensive and unique way in to the ever-expanding practice of Contact Improvisation.

DRIFT: is a collaborative curriculum focused on skill-building, open practice, research sessions and collective belonging. We will engage in experimental markmaking exercises, fundamental drawing techniques and work with a figure model. Daily movement and contact improvisation sessions will keep us flexible, integrate the senses and open gateways to empathic relating.

What if gravity were not just a force but a dance partner? What if the ground beneath us wasn’t just a surface but an invitation?

We will explore the space between sky and earth, where our bodies become the pathway, where mass transforms into weight, and where movement emerges from the subtle play of grounding, balance, and direction.
