We offer you this somatic experience-structure that supports restorative processing within a group container. The daily morning practice and silent mornings will bring a slow and meditative beginning to each day. Writing and drawing will help process what arises, settles, and releases. The schedule will be built around two 1hr Group Shakes. We shake to music {most of the time}, together for a duration with the emphasis on shaking and rocking the body in various ways.
This week long workshop is a collaboration between martial arts and dance through the lens of partnering. We will work with Capoeira, Jiujitsu, music and dance, anatomical knowledge and the overall sense of play.. This is a familiarization of our own spectrum of collaboration and competition: understanding how we are engaging in them, and how they influence what we are capable of.
This workshop will be a focused container for the study and practice of Contact Improvisation. Classes will range from slow, subtle, and meditative material surrounding presence, listening techniques, and somatic exploration, to dynamic, playful and athletic dancing scores. We will review foundations for dancing with weight in motion, and entering into and out of touch.
