F.I.R.E. [forums for indigenous research and exchange] is a week-long group residency providing a self-structured space for conversations around contemporary art making today, tools and strategies for thriving economically, and opportunities for colleagues and friends to meet with one another and make work in an informal and supportive environment.

This somatic durational exploration is created and facilitated by Anya Smolnikova & Rose Cole-Cohen. Through multiple daily Group Shakes, guided movement, and supported rest, we will collectively shake up and nurture our sweet nervous systems.

Our monthly Contact Improvisation jam!

2nd Wednesday of the month at 6pm. Classes with rolling teachers into open jamming.

A focused learning and practice space for basic, fundamental skills of Contact Improvisation. This is an ongoing series with Lilianna Kane. All levels welcome - beginners encouraged!

PANDA [Performance And New Dance Arrivals] are some of the longest programs offered at the Field Center and they are deep dives into living with one another as artists while training daily with established teachers in the field.

In this workshop, dancers will investigate how foundational principles of contact improvisation, including the dynamics of touch, moving support, yielding and reaching towards, collaborative improvisation, and perceptual tuning, can support inspired dancing. With Chris Aiken and Andrew Harwood.
